Microsoft Certified / Experienced Consultant

Burwood Group, a Microsoft Gold Partner specializing in Unified Messaging, Asset Management, Directory Services, and OS Procurement, is looking to add to its growing Chicago team.

The Microsoft Consultant will work in a variety of complex environments including but not limited to Microsoft Exchange Unified Messaging and Microsoft Office Communications Server.

The Microsoft Consultant will oversee the design, architecture, implementation, security and support of large multi-site, multi-vendor unified communications environments; lead client visioning for future systems deployments, lead project teams, prepare scope documents and project plans, design and implement best practices for unified communications deployment to ensure client investment in technology is consistent with their business objectives and that proposed projects are executed successfully. The Unified Communications Consultant will also serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Unified Communications matters, including sales and RFP support, and mentoring, training and support of less senior Unified Communications Engineers.   This individual must possess strong interpersonal, business and technology skills that enable them to engage at the CxO and Director/Manager levels, as well as lead teams of consultants and clients. Ideal candidates will also be experienced in IT consulting with a holistic understanding of the IT operations within a business organization. Also, be able to quickly adapt to a fast-paced sales and quality-based delivery model, work in a team-based environment and self manage. This position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, between both the customer and all levels within the organization. Knowledge of sound business practices and a proven track record of exceeding customer expectations and anticipating their needs are also required; must be motivated with a focus on team performance.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and SME for all Exchange related initiatives
  • Ensuring on time and on budget completion of project initiatives
  • Researching and developing innovative solutions around unified communications
  • Development of unified communications-based marketing solutions (white papers, case studies, etc.)
  • Being involved on business development and pre-sales activities on unified communications-related activities


Job Qualifications:

  • 5-10+ years of total IT experience
  • Consulting experience is a plus
  • Unified Messaging experience
  • Proven experience implementing Exchange 2007 Unified Messaging infrastructure
  • Applicants without UM experience should have Enterprise Exchange and Gateway infrastructure experience, as well as solid understanding of AD, DNS, Windows OS, and best practice hardware experience
  • Excels in the sale, planning, design, rollout and support for large enterprise initiatives (1000 to 20,000 endpoints)
  • Extensive hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting Windows and Active Directory/Exchange Migration Projects (NT 4.0 to Windows 2008 with Active Directory and Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2007)
  • Team and/or project leadership experience a plus
  • Strong customer relationship skills
  • Strong communication skills; ability to present to small/medium groups
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Ability to self manage work, time, and priorities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong educational background and desire to learn
  • A BS in Computer Science or related discipline and Microsoft MCSE are required
