Mark Theoharous, CEO

Mark Theoharous founded Burwood Group in 1997. Mark brings over 20 years of technology and consulting experience and an extensive background in networking, security, and technology/systems architecture.

His previous consulting experience included careers at Andersen Consulting (Accenture) and First Consulting Group. He was also the founding partner of a consultancy in Phoenix, Arizona.

Mark combines a strong technology focus with extensive experience working with the healthcare industry. He has assisted numerous clients with all levels of systems, network and security initiatives. His deep skills and knowledge, combined with his industry and consulting experience, have made him a trusted strategic partner.

It is Mark's belief that business skills and technical understanding combined with real-world experience is what makes a consultant successful. He continues his service to a wide client-base through the consultants at Burwood Group. Selecting and developing the best people is the key to Burwood's success. Mark's passion for his work and the quality and value of each engagement permeate the Burwood Group organization.

Mark currently participates in many industry and vendor events and is on the Advisory Board for the CMP Media Institute for Professional Education Division's Channel Elite MBA program. He received a B.S. degree in Engineering from Michigan State University and an MBA degree in M.I.S. from Indiana University.

 

Jim Hart, President

Jim Hart joined Burwood Group in 1998 to lead go-to-market strategy and business development. He is the President of Burwood Group and has over seventeen years of consulting, advanced technology and organizational re-engineering experience across financial, healthcare, high-tech and retail vertical markets.

Jim serves as a trusted advisor to clients for business/technology alignment, process optimization and quality/performance improvement. He focuses on linking strategy to front-line execution by creating sustainable programs that allow clients to benchmark their organizational effectiveness, drive measurable results and elevate their people, process and technology maturity.

Among other industries, Jim focuses his time on Burwood’s healthcare practice. He is the creator and moderator of an executive level Healthcare IT Forum that Burwood sponsors as well as a member of the board of directors of the National Alliance for Health Information Technology (NAHIT). He is active with NAHIT and the work they have done in New Orleans with the Louisiana Department of Public Health. He also works closely with the American Hospital Association (AHA). Jim speaks regularly at Burwood seminars and also at events sponsored by NAHIT, AHA, HCCA, HIMSS, and other healthcare organizations.

While in grad school Jim worked on Westinghouse's global network operations team. Upon graduation he joined Accenture focusing on technology strategy and large-scale systems integration. He was the lead architect on a project team that developed a comprehensive multimedia development framework leveraged for solution delivery globally across the company. After leaving Accenture he joined a small startup in Phoenix as the first employee that grew into a growing concern. While there he was retained by upper-level technology management at one of the world's largest financial services organizations to develop global network strategies and drive business/IT alignment.

Jim earned a B.S. in Computer and Information Science and a Masters in Telecommunications from the University of Pittsburgh. He earned his CCIE (Certified Cisco Internetworking Engineer) in 1997.

 

Kevin Stewart, Vice President and CTO

Kevin Stewart joined Burwood Group in 2001 and is a technically oriented experienced architect with extensive network, network operating system, software architecture, and network and database design experience. At Burwood, Kevin handles a dual role as project manager and technical resource on various client projects. He provides evaluations of various technologies to determine what new solutions the company may deliver.

Prior to joining Burwood, Kevin held various technical roles at companies such as Commerx, Inc., First Consulting Group, Integrated Systems Consulting Group and Mobil Oil Research and Development Corporation. Kevin completed his B.S. in Computer Engineering from Bucknell University in 1991. He completed Cisco Certified Security Professional certification and is also certified in various Microsoft technologies.

 

Jeff Hartweg, Vice President of Infrastructure Technology Consulting

Jeff Hartweg joined Burwood Group in 2003 and is Vice President of the Infrastructure Technology Consulting business unit, which delivers on all infrastructure projects for Burwood Group. He brings over eighteen years of advanced technology and program management experience primarily in the manufacturing, insurance and consumer financial vertical markets. He has developed technology strategies for both large international and small, regional organizations and implemented these strategies with great success.

Prior to joining Burwood, Jeff was a Senior Manager, Program Management at Sapient, a technical architect for Bank One, and a network architect at GE Capital.

Jeff holds a Bachelors Degree in Economics from the University of Iowa and a Masters in Technology Strategy from Northwestern University.

 

John Fix, Vice President of Service Delivery, HR, and Staffing

John Fix joined Burwood Group in 2005 as an experienced executive with technology, operations, and industry leadership expertise. John has a long track record of successfully leading teams and delivering on initiatives of up to 125,000 hours, with staffs from one to 200 people and budgets up to $10 million. At Burwood John focuses on culture, human resources, recruiting, training, performance management, account management, and successful delivery through project, resource, and client relationship management practices and proven methodologies.

Prior to joining the Burwood Group, John was a Program Director at CNA Insurance where he was accountable for the planning, execution, and successful delivery of high profile technology projects and programs. He also has valuable technology and consulting experience working with companies of all sizes and industries including; Northwestern Memorial Hospital; DeVry, Inc.; CNA Insurance, Commerx, Inc.; Heller Financial, Inc.; Fought, Jameson Associates; Price Waterhouse, LLP; British Petroleum; Koch Industries; and CUNA Mutual Insurance Group.

John has a B.S. in Management Information Systems from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.

 

Rachel Gibson, Director of Finance and Operations

Rachel Gibson joined Burwood Group in 2004 and is currently Director of Finance and Operations where she focuses on improving internal alignment, communication, and efficiency through day-to-day financial and operational management. Rachel has been an invaluable member of the finance team since she started in 2004. While at Burwood Rachel has held numerous positions and has had the opportunity to gain hands on experience in many departments within the organization from product procurement, to the operational aspects of service delivery and sales. Her primary focus is to improve operational efficiencies and allow Burwood Group to provide world class customer service, while overseeing the financial aspect of the organization.

Prior to joining Burwood, Rachel worked as a Sales Associate at Current Technologies, a Technical Support Advocate at Component Control, and as an Office Manager at Partitions and Accessories. The unique combination of roles, paired with her tenacious attitude played an important part in allowing her to obtain her current position. Each learning experience gave various perspectives of how service businesses run from a financial, operational and sales perspective.

Rachel earned a B.S. in Accounting from Northeastern Illinois University, as well as an A.S. in Computer Networking from Coleman College.

 

Mark Heil, Vice President

Mark Heil joined Burwood Group in 2004 as a Project Manager and served as Managing Consultant prior to his current position as Vice President where he oversees all aspects of Burwood’s training and managed service offerings. Since arriving at Burwood Group, Mark has worked to change Burwood’s approach to profitability and efficiency across the organization from Sales through Delivery by improving, documenting and enforcing our Service Delivery processes as well as our ability to consistently estimate and measure our efficiency. Mark is dedicated to fostering a consistent, manageable platform from which we deliver all of our projects, with the focus on improving the overall quality and efficiency of our projects. Prior to Burwood Group Mark worked as a Manager at Inforte Corporation where he focused on managing the delivery of technology projects primarily in the Financial Services and Media/Entertainment industries.

Mark received his BA in Biology from Illinois Wesleyan University and his MS in Kinesiology from Illinois State University.

 

John Curin, Vice President of Healthcare Solutions

John Curin joined Burwood Group in 2001 and has more than 10 years of experience in the planning, design and integration of healthcare information technology, focusing on provider institutions and medical device companies. He was involved in one of the first domestic Unified Communications integration projects within a hospital setting and has been instrumental in the planning, design and transformation of several hospital construction projects.

As the leader of Burwood Group’s healthcare practice, Mr. Curin oversees and drives capabilities in healthcare information technology strategy and integration, clinical informatics, medical device planning and integration and facility transformation and development. He has been an active participant in several healthcare societies, including HIMSS, HCCA and the AHA, and has served as a panelist or presenter on topics including regulatory and security issues, the use of wireless technology in healthcare environments and healthcare facility design.
